AGARTALA, Jan 15 (TIWN): Passengers in Agartala MBB Airport’s New Terminal on Saturday suffered due to no vehicle being available. The auto drivers did not enter as they alleged that thousand rupees were sought from them. In Tripura, cabs like Ola, Uber, or meter taxi systems never developed and as a result, autos have been the only option for the passengers either from the Airport or from the Railway stations. Talking to a driver, he said, “At first, we were told that we will get a place for parking but now, there is no auto parking space. Only Maruti, bikes, buses got parking places".
"Moreover, we were asked to pay a thousand rupees. Do we earn so much to pay them that amount? We can not take passengers from the road also as it will be a violation of traffic law. We want a proper solution to the matter”, said the auto driver.
Passengers said, "The auto drivers are neither taking us nor allowing any private vehicle to pick us".
Cancer patients were also bound to walk during the auto drivers' protest.
