AGARTALA, Jan 12 (TIWN): Govt’s aim to make the City Agartala ‘Smart City’, which is great initiative but without making alternative arrangements of small stalls, AMC staff started bulldozing roadside small stalls. Many poor families' livelihood depends on the roadside small stalls income, but Govt inhuman acts directly kicking on poor family’s stomachs.
Though, those roadside stalls have been on footpaths for years after year but in previous Govt’s era those stalls were not evicted.
The bulldozing of stalls is going under the leadership of Municipal Commissioner and newly elected Mayor, Alik Majumder. Such steps by Municipality staff without an alternative arrangement of poor people stalls are triggering controversies.
