AGARTALA, Jan 9 (TIWN): Tripura BJP Govt which promised to raise all wages up to Rs. 340 has increased tea garden workers’ waged for now Rs. 146.
Addressing media, Tripura Tea Board Chairman Santosh Deb said, "In the last 105 years of Tripura tea garden history, the wage was only Rs. 105 but our Govt decided to hike it to Rs. 146".
However, though hikes were made, it was not as per the expectation as recently in the last few years India’s rupees values have downed heavily and prices of daily commodities, fuel, transportation shot up like never before. In this situation, how far Rs. 146 will make the workers happy it is questionable.
