AGARTALA Jan 6 (TIWN): On September 25, 2021, the CPI (M) staged a protest for the rights and benefit of common people at Paradise Chowmuhani in Agartala, but the protest was allegedly done by violating COVID protocols. For violating the COVID rules a case was launched against 9 CPI-M heavyweight leaders Badal Choudhury, Narayan Kar, Shankar Prasad Das, Ratan Das, Subhashish Ganguly, Madhusudan Das, Manik Dey, Pabitra Kar, Rama Das.
Today the CPIM leaders got bail at Judicial Magistrates court. Centering the case Manik Dey said, “Anarchy going on in the state as workless, foodless and lawless situations gripped. The ruling Govt can do anything, but no protest can be done in the state against anarchy”. Dey asked, “What kind of law is it that we can’t even protest against the anarchy?” The law is being violated by ruling govt as they are failed to provide common people’s rights, he further added.
“The protest was done by maintaining all COVID protocols but false and fabricated cases were launched, also by filing cases harassing them”, stated Dey.
“The ruling govt has failed in solving problems and no pre-poll promises were fulfilled by BJP govt and common people are expressing extreme resentment and to shut the people’s voice the govt is applying power”, Manik Dey before media.
Dey also told media that not only opposition leaders are facing such harassment who are raising voice against the ruling govt misdeeds, but journalists too are facing such harassment, false cases.
