KAILASHAHAR, Jan 5 (TIWN): After the four years of the Hira-regime, amid tall claims about the Atal Jal Dhara mission, Tripura is witnessing uproars every day due to massive drinking water crisis, especially in the rural areas.
In Kailashahar’s Kali-shwashan area, Rangrung village under Chandipur block, villagers blocked the road in protest against the water crisis.
Around 150 tea garden workers are residing there but even after repeated complaints to the DWS, no action was taken by the department.
Agitators said, they have to make proper arrangements for the drinking water system and so they need a permanent solution to the existing issue. A big pump machine has been placed on demand. Right now, the villagers are bound to drink dirty water from a pond.
The blockade started at around 10 am and did not end till the DWS officials reached the spot at around 2.30 pm and assured the villagers to solve their problems.
