AGARTALA, Dec 29 (TIWN): Meeting of the Consultative Committee on Civil Aviation was held today in New Delhi to discuss on the draft 'Civil Aviation Policy' under the Chairmanship of the Union Minister of Civil Aviation shoke Ganapatiraju Raju.
Tripura MP Jitendra Chaudhury, MP has made the following points in his deliberation :
1) Government should maintain the leadership of Air India over the Indian sky, as Air India is our National Career and flying high our prestige, besides serving the national economy and national integrity. No further cut of the share and process of privatisation of Air India is agreeable.
2) All the State Capitals should be well connected to national capital, to and fro, by the services of Air India and connectivity with other important cities to be ensured. States not connected with railheads should be given the priority.
3) There should be regular flights from Delhi to Agartala and back.
4) Steps may taken expeditiously to reoperationalise the Kailashahar and Kamalpur airports.
5) The Ministry may operate additional flights in Kolkata-Agartala sector to evacuate the stranded passengers, without putting further hurdles on the passengers.
6) The Ministry should design a special initiative to establish interstate connectivity within the NE States.
7) Government should take immediate step to stop the arbitrary hiking of fares and check the sort of manipulation.
