Tripura People eat the highest quantity of fish in India after Andaman, 25 Kg per person in a year

AGARTALA, Dec 15 (TIWN): Locally known as ‘Aa’ or ‘Mach’, Tripura has been claimed as the second topper in the highest fish-consuming state.
After Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tripura is the first in Fish Consuming.
Tripura Fisheries Minister Mebar Kumar Jamatia delivered the data on Monday.
Reportedly, the Minister said that per person 25 Kg fish is being consumed in a year in Tripura on average whereas the National average is 18 kg.
Mebar Jamatia also said that when Tripura’s demand for fish is 92,500 metric tons (MT) at least 23% is imported from other states/countries.
