AGARTALA, Dec 9 (TIWN): In a major setback for the CPI-M Party, one and half years ahead of the Assembly Poll, top CPI-M leaders of South Tripura have been jailed for 2 years under IPC 447 and 353 in the case PRC(WP)94/2016.

A total of 22 persons gave witness to the incident in Belonia Dist & Session Judge's Court. 

The allegation of attack on District Judge R.D.Pal was raised during a Strike day in 2015 and cases were lodged against 3 of them. 

The convicted persons are 1) Tapas Datta, 2) Babul Das, 3) Trilokesh Sinha. 

The Left party moved High Court against the order passed by Belonia Dist & Session Judge Mitra Das.
