AGARTALA, Dec 5 (TIWN): Based on secret information Kumarghat SI Jayant Das, led by Kumarghat SDPO Gamanjoy Reang, along with Saikat Dey and a huge police and TSR forces were deployed in the Sidang Chhara area on ??NH. As soon as a 10 wheeler lorry register Number- NL02L3411 arrived, the police arrested the lorry and launched an operation. During the operation, police were able to recover a total of 785 kg of dried cannabis in 56 packets from the lorry.
The arrested driver identified as Vijay Chowdhury(47) from Nadia District of W.Bengal and co-driver identified as Abhinash Kumar (18) of Bihar under Raghabpur PS.
The arrested Gaza smugglers told the police that they were smuggling the dried cannabis to Maharashtra.
The Kumarghat police have registered a case under the NDPS section against the arrested cannabis smugglers. Police say the market value of the rescued dried Gaza will be around Rs 1 crore. The arrested smugglers will be produced to court on Monday, Kumarghat police sources said.
