CHARILAM / KAMALPUR, Dec 4 (TIWN): State-wide students’ protest has erupted voicing against the suddenly changed decision of the Education Department turned heavy upon the students. The decision was taken a few days ahead of half-yearly examinations saying that instead of 40 marks exams, the exam will be taken on 80 marks. In Kamalpur Baralutma School students blocked the road raising the slogan of ‘We will not sit in 80 marks exams’. Similar protests are continuing in various parts of the state. School students organized a massive protest in Charilam H.S. School in protest against 80 marks exams. The agitating students said that just 3 days ahead of their exams, they were said that their exams will be taken on 8 marks but the students who had prepared for 40 marks exams are now in severe trouble.
Class-IX and Class-XI students blocked the road. As a result on both sides of the road, heavy traffic jams were witnessed. Later police reached the spot and controlled the situation.
On the other hand, teachers said the students never raised any complaint about the issue but suddenly went into protest today.
Tripura Education Minister on 30th November announced his final decision that exams will be taken on 80 marks, not 40.
