NEW DELHI, Dec 1 (TIWN): Regional parties TIPRA Motha and IPFT have kicked off protests demanding a separate state in Tripura named ‘Greater Tipraland’ in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Along with Delhi, protests were staged in Tripura’s various parts also on Wednesday. In Amarpur’s Thalchara a protest was staged led by Tipra Motha leader Rajeswar Debbarma. In Mon-PPathor of Santir Bazar also, a massive protest was staged. Addressing the gathering, Rajeswar Debbarma said, “We are not against any Community and our demand is Constitutional''. Tipra Motha Party came in the limelight after it won Tripura ADC and in Assembly Poll also Tipra Motha is eyeing for all the 20 ST seats.
The movement was initiated by Tripura Royal scion Pradyot Manikya led TIPRA Motha party and is now joined by the IPFT party. Other regional tribal parties already merged with TIPRA Motha.
TIPRA Motha is now ruling the Tripura ADC followed by a massive public mandate.
Thousands of Greater Tipraland supporters have been agitating at Jantar Mantar in Delhi today. The leaders are also scheduled to meet PM Modi and Amit Shah. IPFT Minister Mebar Jamatia who is a cabinet member of Biplab Deb Govt here also present at Delhi.
