Diamond Harbour, Nov 24 (TIWN): Bengal Journalists protested at Diamond Harbour after journalist Akbar Ali from South-24-Parganas was attacked brutally inside a police station by BJP hooligans in Tripura capital city Agartala. Akbar Ali’s health is still in critical condition. His colleagues marched a silent protest and placed a deputation to the Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar in this regard. Atleast, three journalists were attacked on November 21 in East Agartala Police station where BJP goons held severe attacks in the police station when Trinamool members were inside with arrested Sayani Ghosh. In the attack, along with Trinamool activists, journalist Akbar Ali was critically injured. Two more Agartala journalists received minor injuries in the attack. In total two phases, the attacks were organized one after another.
However, in Tripura no protest was staged by Journalists against the barbaric attacks due to fear of the Government.
West Bengal journalists have demanded arrests of the culprits under ‘attempt to murder’ charges. Legal steps are also reportedly being taken to ensure justice to the attacked journalist.
So far nobody has been arrested.
