AGARTALA, December 25 (TIWN): The only hope of the farmers of Kailasahar Jalai area and Dolugao area was a bridge over the Manu river for the benefit of the farmers especially. The 20,000 inhabitants of the Kailasahar Jolai area and Dolugao area has been longing for a bridge to connect Jalai area with Dolugao. But till today the state govt. lacks behind to bring in the wishes of the 20,000 inhabitants come true.

 During the year 2012, December 28 Minister Tapan Chakroborty laid the foundation stone of a steel hanging foot bridge over the Manu river. The construction of the bridge was expected to get over by 2013, but till today the 20,000 inhabitants especially the farmers of the area could only witness the two pillars at both the side of the area.

Rs. 12 lakhs has been sanctioned from the state MGNREGA fund for the construction of the bridge, and later another fund had been allotted for its construction. And now it has been since three years that the bridge work remained paralysed with the construction of only two pillars at both the sides.

Minister Tapan Chakroborty laid the foundation stone of the bridge in his own constituency during the year 2012 in presence of Uttar Zilla Parishad Sahakari Sabhadipati Lakhan Kar and Unakoti District DM Abhishek Chandra. But since then the state govt. remained backtrack from playing any further role on it with the construction of only two pillars.

It is mentionable here that the Kailsahar has become a hub of vegetable farming, where most of the inhabitants are engaged in vegetable farming to earn their daily livelihood. Besides, the Jalai area under the Kailasahar sub division has become another hub of wholesale vegetable market, where the farmers puts their production, but lack of road connection between the Jalai and Dalugao left the farmers of Dalugao helpless. Therefore the only hope of a bridge for the farmers of Dalugao turns bleak, when the state govt. has been playing a negligence role on construction of a steel hanging foot bridge.

However, though its only a time that will show a light of hope for the farmers of Dalugao area with the state govt. taking a necessary steps in regard of completing the half constructed construction work of the hanging bridge soon.
