Agartala, Dec 25 (TIWN): With the initiative of Bharatiya Janata Party (Party), the 90th birthday of former Prime Minister of India- Atal Bihari Vajpayee was celebrated across the state. Besides, BJP state committee, Badharghat Mondol Committee celebrated the day at AD Nagar with dignity. Altogether 50 BJP leaders including workers and members of Mondal Committee were remained present.
After hosting the BJP’s party flag, state convenor of Intellectual Cell- Prasenjit Chakraborty in his speech said that Mr. Vajpayee was BJP’s first national president. After came into the power, he had introduced Sarbha Shiksha Abhiyan to drop the percentage of illiteracy at zero in the country and the Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) with an effort to develop the rural-urban connectivity, he said.
Mr. Chakraborty further stated that he was the first man who introduced India as ‘powerful country’ in the world. At last he said the BJP would form the government in state in coming days.
As part of the Mr. Vajpayee’s birthday celebration, membership collection drives, fruits distribution among the orphanage children and various cleanliness drives were conducted today.
Besides, BJP mondal committees, leaders, supporters and workers celebrated Mr. Vajpayee’s birthday in the block levels and Panchayat levels across the state.
It is worthy to mention here; the Union Government announced the prestigious Bharat Ratna award, India's highest civilian honour, for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 24. Earlier the Union Government declared Vajpayee's birthday as the 'Good Governance Day'.
