AGARTALA, Oct 14 (TIWN): Rush of people increased on Maha-Astami night as it’s time to enjoy pandal hopping, with the rhythmic beats of the dhaak in the background, partaking in pushpanjali, bhog, and other Durga Pujo shenanigans.
But with the pandemic, things changed and just like other things that have gone digital, many have resorted to virtual pandal hopping since last year, but due to high vaccination rate, fear among the people is less about Covid in Tripura.
In Agartala, in comparison to yesterday, today the crowd increased a lot. People are busy in enjoying pandal hopping.
Durga Ashtami is considered to be one of the most important days of Durga Puja. It begins with mahasnan and shodashopachar puja, which is similar to Saptami puja. On this day, nine small pots are installed and nine shaktis of Durga are then invoked in them. All the nine forms of the goddess are worshipped during Mahashtami puja. Young, unmarried girls are also worshipped on this day. This is known as ‘Kumari Puja’.
