AGARTALA, Oct 4 (TIWN): Tripura Govt on Monday failed to submit Police investigation progress details of September 8 Agartala City torching incidents in High Court today.
As the State Govt has failed to submit a proper reply, the Court has listed the next hearing on October 7, that is Thursday.
So far only 1 person has been arrested in this case and the arrested person Raghunath Lodh was arrested just yesterday. Video footage are showing hundreds of people's faces in the violence. Raghu Lodh was arrested under West Agartala PS, Case No.154/2021 one day ahead of the High Court’s hearing although many youths had participated in the violence on September 8 who burnt many cars, entered various offices and set them on fire under the leadership of Rajib Bhattacharjee, MLA Kalyani Roy, Papia Datta, Viki Prasad, Nabadul Banik, Tunku Roy.
Recently the Press Council of India also had issued notice to the State's DGP and also Chief Secretary over the incident of September 8.
On September 8, a total of 3 media houses were vandalized by miscreants across Tripura.
As no arrest had been taken place by Tripura Police and no action was taken by Crime Branch of Tripura to whom the PB24 media house vandalism case was handed over even after having clear evidence of September 8 violence, a PIL was filed in the High Court by an Advocate Haripada Das Case No- 16/2021 . In this regard, the High Court had issued a notice to Tripura Govt seeking replies by 4th October but the Govt has failed to submit proper replies.
