Agartala, Dec 23 (TIWN): Task Force of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Tripura Police jointly staged an eviction drive at Colonel Chowmohani, here today.
Eviction of roadside illegally occupied shops by AMC was carried out with a mission mode. During the drive, around 10 illegally occupied shops were evicted affecting over 70 people depending on these shops at Colonel Chowmohani. The eviction drive was carried out in the both road sides of Colonel Chowmohani area in between 12 pm to 2 pm.
According to an AMC Task Force officer, despite several prior notices, the continued to sell products on roadsides by capturing footpaths illegally. Earlier, many such eviction drives were conducted in the same area. But paying no attention, the shop owners had been continuing to sell products on roadsides illegally.
Earlier, the AMC staged many eviction drives in the capital city including Battala, Paradise Chowmohani, Kaman Chowmohani and other places. During such drives, a vast number of roadside hawkers and illegally occupied shops were evicted in a recent past.
During the raid, the shop owners tried to stop the Task Force of AMC and demanded for rehabilitation but the AMC staffs paying no attention to them, evicted around 10 illegally occupied shops.
