AGARTALA, Aug 15 (TIWN): Congress leaders who organized rally with limited numbers of people with Indian flags in hand to mark the Independence Day were arrested forcefully by Tripura Police in Belonia citing Covid Violation.

A Congress leader Dilip Muhuri before the media asked, "In what kind of Democratic country are we living? When BJP organizes rallies or gather with massive number of people then Corona would not be there but when oppositions organise rallies police arrest them citing ‘Covid violation’".

For detaining congress leaders illegally a verbal argument occurred with Police. However Police later stated that the congress leaders were arrested as they did not have Government Permission for organising the rally and on the other side, Congress's tableau was not permitted even after seeking permission.
