Agartala, Dec 19 (TIWN): In a tragic road mishap, a bike rider died and the pillion rider sustained severe injuries at Berimura Bardowal on National Highway-44 under Jirania police station, here today.

The deceased was identified as Akhil Debbarma (20), resident of Kalinagar, said police. The injured person was identified as Amit Debbarma (25) of Murapara under Ranirbazar police station.

According to the police, while two persons were proceeding towards Agartala from Teliamura side riding in a motor bike bearing registration no- TR04-A-4898, met with an accident.

After receiving the information, police of Jirania police station rushed to the place of occurrence and found two persons and the bike were lying on the road side at Berimura Bardowal. Out of two persons one is found dead on the spot while condition of pillion rider is stated to be critical.

“Preliminary, it is suspected that unknown vehicle might have dashed the motor bike and fled away. The injured person was immediately shifted to Jirania Hospital. Efforts are being made to identify the offending vehicle and to apprehend the driver of that vehicle”, police said.
