AGARTALA, Aug 7 (TIWN): In a shocking manner, the Tripura police were seen being completely deaf and dumb during BJP's violent attack on Trinamool members at Ambassa today. After six days of attack on National General Secretary of Trinamool, Abhishek Banerjee, now a group of hooligans attempted a barbaric attack on Trinamool party members when they were going to attend a party program at Ambasa, Dhalai.

The injured activists alleged that, despite of standing only hundred metres away from the attack place, police did not take any step against it. The police remained silent spectators when the miscreants were pelting stones, bricks and used lathis on their vehicles, leaving many of the members injured. The Trinamool youth leader Sudip Raha sustained critical injuries, Trinamool state spokesperson Debangshu Bhattacharya was severely attacked. The Trinamool members expressed extreme displeasure on the role of police and alleged that the situation of lawlessness is going on in the State.

However, the culture of violent attacks on opposition party activities, party leaders is nothing new under CM Biplab Deb led Tripura's BJP regime. Such incidents decreased the popularity of Deb and his Governance in Tripura to a great extent in only three years of his rule.
