AGARTALA, Aug 5 (TIWN): Amid massive blood crisis in the state and increasing numbers of deaths due to blood crisis, Minister Ratan Lal Nath claimed today that blood collection rate has increased but it needs to be increased more.
Nath was addressing a blood donation camp in Agartala and said, "Our state annually needs 40,000 units of blood on average. Every year the blood collection rate is increasing. When our Govt came to power in 2018 it was 37,000 units. Last year it was 39,000 units but we could not reach 40,000 yet".
He requested people to come forward to donate blood so that the crisis can be mitigated", said Nath.
"Blood can not be manufactured anywhere and so except blood donation, there is no other way to save lives", he added.
However, in Tripura blood banks there are always blood crises which have increased massively under Biplab Deb Govt. Many times corruption in the blood banks was alleged but the Govt never investigated the matters.
