AGARTALA, December 19 (TIWN): After all the recent multicrore scams of the state came to light the Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC) is likely to made its entry into a massive corruption in Tripura.
A highly placed source of TRTC, said that the central government issued a fund to Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC) to buy 70 new buses to provide more facilities to the daily commuters. But till now only 10 buses were owned by the high level officials of Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC). According to the source, most probably the fund for the remaining 60 new buses had been already embezzled by the high level officials of Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC). No one of the said department are not raising their voice regarding the issues because all the high level officials of Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC) are under the protection of Melarmath, the source added.
Most of the city buses of TRTC are in deplorable condition with in the span of one year. The deplorable condition of city bus stops has laid bare the authorities’ utter neglect to public convenience and safety.
Without proper maintenance any vehicle will break-down and for RTC buses a combination of factors like lack of maintenance for more than one month, the source mentioned.
It is to be mentioned here that, at least 1200 pensioners of TRTC are deprived from their gratuity money that rests at Rs 2 crore now. It was during the year 2010, when a meeting at the secretariat decided to pay gratuity money to the 1200 pensioners. But now it has been since 4 years that the 1200 pensioners are suffering, whereas according to the sources among those 1200 deprived pensioners some of them had already expired, and on the other the TRTC authority is still playing a role of a silent spectator in regard of paying the pensioners, their gratuity money. Since the year 2010 the 1200 pensioners had been moving for several movements in demand of their deserved gratuity money, when A.B. Reang was the Managing Director (MD) of TRTC.
