AGARTALA, June 26 (TIWN): Tripura former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Saturday while addressing media after attending a Kishan-Morcha programme has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a lesson from the post Emergency period of Indira Gandhi.Â
"If Narendra Modi thinks that by suppressing people's voices and attacking the media his Govt can function in the long run, it will not be the same. In future the consequence will be against him", said Sarkar.
"Indira Gandhi had converted the whole nation into a prison but then after the people were released from jail, the Congress Govt realized that the people's anger was swelling and a major defeat was received by Congress and history has scripted those chapters. But today under Narendra Modi free voice is almost suppressed and trying to buy MLAs, changing the constitution, bringing Black-Laws. So I will request Modi to take a lesson from the post Emergency period", said Sarkar.
