AGARTALA, June 21 (TIWN): Since last few days CM Biplab Deb has been strolling in the capital city Agartala with dozens of security at night, assured about law and order and safety of the people. But the ground reality is despite CM’s assurance of safety of the people, theft incidents have been increasing rampantly amid night curfew. Police who remain busy in imposing fines on civilians but failed to control theft incidents in the capital city, Agartala. A group of thieves looted a shop in Nataji Chowmuhani area last night amid night curfew. Huge amount of valuable items have been taken from the electronic shop.
Talking to the shop owner it is known this theft incident is not new, in last few months 3-4 times thieves looted the shop and taken valuable items. Also it is known the shop falls near PWD office and Income Tax office. Question is being raised how the thieves getting chances to loot shops amid police patrols at night from such a place? The shop owner showed resentment over the role of City Police. The theft incident has triggered tension among other shopkeepers in the area.
One after another theft cases and police failure in curbing such theft incidents in the city raising questions on the security of state’s people.
