Agartala, Dec 16 (TIWN): With an aim to strengthen the two-pronged relationship in between two neighboring countries- India and Bangladesh, Bharat-Bangla Maitri Utsav was celebrated today with pomp and gaiety at Chottakhola of Rajnagar in South Tripura district to mark the Vijay Divas of Bangladesh liberation war. A massive crowd was seen from the morning at Chottakhola.
Minister for Tourism- Ratan Bhowmik, Sabhadipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad- Himangshu Roy, MLA Basudeb Majumder, MLA Sudhan Das, chairman of Rajnagar Panchayat Samity- Ratna Das, Principal Secretary of Forest and other departments- BK Bahuguna, District Magistrate and Collector of South Tripura- Rajendra Kumar Noatia, Assistant Professor, Ramthakur College- Mujahid Rahman, BDO of Rajnagar RD block- Bipul Das today attended the programme.
Besides, Member of Parliament (MP), Bangladesh- Md. Faruk Khan, Mahran Khaled and Executive Director of Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development- Rejaul Ikram also graced the dais as guest of honours. They also visited the Liberation War Memorial Park at Chottakhola in Belonia. Besides, they are scheduled to attend a seminar too.
It is to be mentioned here; Tripura had provided support to liberation war heroes and lakh of refugees in the form of food and shelter During the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
