AGARTALA, June 17 (TIWN): Shanu Datta, a 20-year-old boy drowned when he went to take bath in Manu River. The incident took place at around 2 pm today in Betchara area under Kumarghat PS.
Shanu Datta, son of Smriti Dutta of Kanchan Bari Bazar area under Fatikray PS in Unkoti district, came to visit his friend Satyam Dey’s house this afternoon.
Shanu and Satyam both went to bath in Manu River in Bet Chhara area but Sanu did not know how to swim and in a moment he drowned in the River Manu.
After witnessing the incident his friend Satyam started screaming.
Locals then rushed to the spot and tried to find him out initially but could not find him.
Immediately Kumarghat PS and Fire Service reached the spot. The Fire Service personnel, NDRF and TSR force rushed to the incident spot and started searching the drowned boy in Manu River.
Till the news publication the team could not find out from the river.
Centering, the incident tension has generated in the area.
