AGARTALA, June 13 (TIWN): Like other states, Tripura too distributing free rations to the poor people through fair price shops. Among them, 2 kg of pulses, 1 kg of salt, 1 liter of oil, 3 kg of potatoes, 2 kg of onion, 500 g of soybean, 250 g of turmeric powder, and 100 g of cumin powder have been allotted, but massive corruption has been reported in the distribution process in Tripura.
Allegations of irregularities in the distribution of all these ration items arose. It has been alleged that the dealers of Aloichhara government fair price shops in Shantir Bazar sub-division are reducing the quantity of onion, potato, and pulses in the goods.
Although pulses are supposed to be given 2 kg per family, it is shown that 1 kg 600 - 1 kg 800 g is being given to them. On the other hand, potatoes and onions together should weigh 5 kg, but they are giving only 4 kg.
Asked about this to the ration dealer, he admitted in front of the media that he is reducing the quantity as per the orders of the local ruling party leaders and the local leaders are measuring the ration content for everyone.
However, after receiving the news, Food Inspector Saswati Acharya, and other officials came to the spot.
