AGARTALA, June 11 (TIWN): Congress on Friday has staged protest against hiked fuel prices nationwide, which is affecting Tripura. The party had asked the State Govt also to reduce VAT so that people get some relieves. Petrol price which has already hit near 100 rupees is causing commodity prices in all spheres. The Congress agitators raised question, when international prices of oil are less, why it is charged high in this country ? Fuel prices have been soaring since the beginning of May. In big cities, the situation is more critical. State-run companies resumed daily revisions on May 4 after an over 18-day halt. Since then, petrol price has risen by over Rs 6 per litre. Diesel prices have also witnessed a sharp increase in last one month. In Mumbai, a litre of diesel is being sold at ₹94.15 for a litre. Diesel price has climbed to Rs 86.75 for a litre in Delhi on Friday.
Congress workers on Friday staged protest against fuel price hike in around 30 places across the Union Territory.
