AGARTALA, June 1 (TIWN): A worker engaged in the construction of the electric tower in the area adjacent to the office of Shantir Bazar Electric Department died on Tuesday after a landslide.

The deceased was identified as Mahendra Tripura, 35 years old resident of South Sonaichhari area. The accident occurred due to a sudden landslide, said a police official. Upon receiving the accident news, a huge force of TSR personnel of Ninth Battalion and Shanti Bazar Fire service personnel rushed to the spot.

At the end after joint efforts of TSR and Fire service personnel, Mahendra's dead body was rescued by removing the soil. The body was taken to Shantir Bazar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The body will be handed over to the family after an autopsy.
