Agartala, December 14 (TIWN): : State's Givt run GB Hospital experienced problems with the frequent power cut from last night to till morning. The Hospital was left without power supply for one and a half hours in the morning. Fed up with this, patient parties visited the doctors and discussed the problems.
Doctors and nurses were found giving injections and medicines to patients in candle light. There is no arrangement of generator in the hospital yet. The patients have been facing various problems in the hospital .A few patients in the hospital are given oxygen. Though the oxygen cylinders remain functioning even after power cut but the patients have to face other problems. Also the hospital higher-ups face a huge problem. Various important departments are unable to maintain their function.
The patients and their family members face such hard times frequently. Yet, the Health department has turned a blind eye towards the problems faced by them. Superintendent may sort out the problem of frequent power cuts to a great extent. An arrangement of generator or inverter should have solved the problem but the hospital higher ups are not taking any initiative over the issue.
Even after the Project Guarantee Test (PGT) of the plant and switching on the Palatana thermal power UnitII, power crisis in the state has worsened along with the boosting demand of power. The power-starved northeastern region has been hit by a severe electricity crisis. People of the state have been suffering from frequent load shedding. The unannounced load shedding in addition to the scheduled power cut has caused severe inconvenience to all sections of the people. According to the sources there is no disparity between rural and urban areas on record; All the areas go without power for severaltimes in a day.
