AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): As there is no irrigation system in the cultivable field at Gorjantali area of Ward No-3 in West Jalefa vill Panchayat, under Sabroom sub-division the impoverished small paddy farmers are facing huge losses, allegedly.

Unlike every year this year too, small paddy farmers in Gorjantali area of West Jalefa Vill Panchayat cultivated paddy following SRI method on their agricultural plot using seeds and fertilizers provided by the Department of Agriculture. But the poor small farmers are facing huge financial loss after cultivating the field every year due to lack of water irrigation.

The impoverished small farmers of the area have been repeatedly requesting to the local leaders and panchayat members to provide water irrigation to their paddy fields but nothing has happened.

Presently, the impoverished small farmers are appealing to the government, to investigate their agricultural fields and to provide them some compensation and also to install water pump machines to irrigate the area.

Now it remains to be seen what action the concerned department will take for the affected small farmers.
