DHARMANAGAR, May 13 (TIWN): Locals blocked the road demanding immediate supply of drinking water in Malakar slum of ward no. 6, Bhagyapur gram panchayat under Dharmanagar subdivision of North district.
They claimed that for the last two months, they are suffering a severe water crisis in the area. Despite informing the matter to their Village head Ratna Malakar, she made no solution and on the contrary, she asked the villagers to visit the ruling party’s Mondal committee with empty vessels.
The villagers also alleged that they used to walk for about 1 km to collect water from ward no. 7 but the locals of that ward are wasting lots of water due to which the people residing under ward no. 6 are facing an acute crisis.
The protestors also complained of abuse against the village head for showing them false hopes. However, the locals demanded their problem to be solved within few hours or else they might continue blocking the road.
