AGARTALA, May 12 (TIWN): Police have started a massive enforcement drive in West District, specially in Agartala Municipality areas as Covid cases are surging high suddenly in the capital Agartala. Actions have been taken against the violators throughout the day. SP West Manik Das said that this drive will continue from now and meetings are being held with Market Associations, Medical shop owners so that social distancing can be maintained properly. This step was taken amid a massive surge of Covid positive cases and rise in death tolls. However, on the same day, Tripura Minister Ratanlal Nath, BJP MLA Surajit Datta joined a programme where MLA Surajit Datta had kept his mouth unmasked and no social distancing was maintained in the programme, though it was a Covid awareness programme at Joypur, Agartala.

In various markets, this drive had taken place along with gathering prone areas. SP said that many were found to have failed to obey the mask law amid much awareness. 

The latest Covid death and positivity rates in Tripura of 24 hours were record breaking for the year 2021. Rapid Antigen Testing has been started in AMC areas. At the same time, the national record of Covid-19 is also alarming.
