AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): Daring theft incident occurred in broad daylight at Madhya Para area adjacent to Charilam Bazar. The looted gold ornaments including cash estimated around Rs 6 lakhs.
A group of thieves / or thief looted Rs 15000 cash including 10 bhori gold ornaments from a retired headmaster house at Madhyapara area in North Charilam.
It is learned that retired headmaster, Narayan Majumder and his wife lived alone at home and have a son who works at Silchar Hospital.
This morning Narayan Majumder went to attend his nephew's wedding with his wife. But after returning home the man and his wife found the door was unlocked and window grills were broken.
Suddenly the husband and wife started screaming when they found the cupboard and showcase in broken condition.
The local people of the area gathered one by one after hearing their shouts. Narayan Majumder and his wife broke down into tears.
The news was given to Bishalgarh PS, on receiving the news, the huge police force of Bishalgarh PS rushed to the scene and has started an investigation by filing a case of unusual theft.
However, panic has spread on local people’s minds over the horrific theft incident in broad daylight. Also, various questions are being raised about how it is possible to steal from a public place in broad daylight.
