AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): A brutal attack has been reported in South Tripura where the former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, former Minister Badal Choudhury and other CPI-M leaders, members were present. The incident took place at Santir Bazar, South Tripura after leader of the Opposition, former CM Manik Sarkar, Badal Choudhury, MLA Sudhan Das, leader Basudeb Majumder and others were going to meet an attacked family there. That family was recently attacked by the local BJP, their houses were damaged. To talk to the victim family, the former Chief Minister visited there along with Badal Choudhury, Sudhan Das and others.

Badal Choudhury was injured on his head, vehicles were vandalized and many received minor injuries due to stone pelting. Police officials present there tried their best to safeguard the leaders but as Police authority did not permit any lathi-charge, so the deployed police personnel could not use any preventive method. 

After the incident, Manik Sarkar addressed media in Agartala Melarmath headquarter, where questions were raised how the BJP came to know about the opposition leaders' visits in South Tripura if Police higher authority had no nexus ? 

Sarkar called it a "Jungle Raj" and said, "Again and again such incidents can not be tolerated".
