AGARTALA, April 9 (TIWN): BJP goons in Law Minister Ratanlal Nath's constituency Mohanpur have severely attacked Tripura Royal Scion, TIPRA Motha Chief Pradyot Manikya one day ahead of poll counting. When the Election Authority had ensured law and order maintenance, BJP goons in Ratanlal Nath's constituency were allegedly using guns, stone pelting led the TIPRA Motha leaders even unable to move out of the SDM Office. Addressing live from the SDM Office there, Pardayot Manikya told police that the BJP candidate there himself was present when he was entering and a brutal attack took place on him and TIPRA Motha leaders. Addressing live, Pradyot Manikya said, "I am under severe attacks but point to be mentioned here, neither I get afraid nor I will be afraid with such attempts. I appeal for peace and I request my people to not react to that kind of violence. Just stay calm in homes. Police have not arrested a single person and we are sitting here door-closed".Â
"No Sir, Stone pelting was conducted..........", the police official denied firing and said that stone-pelting happened.
Then Pradyot Manikya asked the police official, "How can this happen ? I came here to talk to the SDM. This incident was pre-planned and the BJP candidate was right there. Is this the way of conducting elections ? If I am under attack, how do you save the normal voters. The SDM office has been broken here. Don't care about my protection. You first arrest the culprits".
The police officer argued that he imposed lathi-charge on them and said, "We will take action against them Sir".
Pradyot Manikya then asked the policeman, "Are you afraid of the local MLA here ? They (the miscreants) are right here. They can be arrested right now".
