AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): While journalist Bikash Das went to collect news related to corruption of Shantipur Village Committee, under the leadership of Village Chairman Shimul Chakma, Journalist Bikash was hit brutally with a rod and his car was vandalized.
To save himself from the criminals' attack, he first hid in the forest for few minutes. Then somehow Bikash managed to reach Kanchanpur police station hiring a car with his forehead bleeding.
However, since September 2020, about 22 journalists have been attacked in Tripura. Notably, the risk factor in the profession of journalism is increasing rapidly in the state. Freedom of the press is a fundamental right that the government itself can not violate but sadly it has become the most violated right in Tripura in recent years but the administration is playing a dumb role in this regard.
