AGARTALA, March 23 (TIWN): A 17 year old housewife set herself on fire after being tortured by her husband and in-laws members. The demised housewife has been identified as Madhumita Sarkar(17).

Later, her family brought her to Agartala GB Hospital for treatment. After 2 months of treatment, the housewife breathed last on Yesterday. As soon as her death news spread, her in-law’s members fled away from the hospital premises.

Today, after an autopsy, the lifeless body of the housewife was handed over to the family.It is known she had married 9 months ago with Nikesh Sarkar, but after marriage her husband started torturing her for dowry. To get rid from unbearable tortures the newly married wife tried to commit suicide by pouring kerosene on her 2 months ago.
