Sabroom, Dec 11 (TIWN):Srinagar Border Haat is ready for inauguration, however it is getting delayed for formal inauguration due to adjustment of dates of Commerce Ministers of two countries and Chief Minister of Tripura. In the mean time, it is advised by Commerce Ministry of Govt of India to attempt to start functioning of Border Haat on trial basis, as it was done at Balat Border Haat (Meghalaya).

The first border haat between India - Bangladesh was supposed to open soon. According to sources,  exact time schedule is not yet confirmed and  local people from both the countries are anxiously waiting for opening  of  first border haat at Srinagar, Sabroom .Border Hut will enhance people-to-people contact and create goodwill amongst the people so that  bilateral trade between India and Bangladesh will boost up. It is also anticipated that the "haat" would cater the livelihood option to more than thousand of marginal income families and small traders of both the countries.

It would be beneficial for people of the region as no tax would be imposed on the items to be sold in the haat and currencies of both the countries will be allowed.
