AGARTALA, March 15 (TIWN): On the 185th birth anniversary of Ramakrishna Paramhansa Deb, devotees have offered prayers. In Tripura's various temples, the great Hindu saint was paid tribute, specially in the TRamakrishna temples.

In every subdivisions of Tripura there are various Maths (Belur Math) or Ramakrishna Seba Asram and on Thursday mass gathering was followed on those places.

Ramakrishna was a famous Saint in 19th century India. He was born on February 18th, 1836 at Kamarpukur village of Hooghly district in West Bengal. His family was very poor but a devoutly religious Brahmin. Ramakrishna became a priest of the Dakshineswar Kali Temple, devoted to the goddess Kali. He got married to Sarada Devi who became Ramakrishna’s spiritual companion later. 

Swami Vivekananda was one of his well-known disciples. Swami Vivekananda founded Ramakrishna Math that works for the welfare of other people and helps in the spread of the spiritual movement known as the Ramakrishna Movement worldwide. Belur Math is the headquarters of Ramakrishna Math and Mission.
