AGARTALA, Feb 18 (TIWN): CPI-M's union "Tripura Brick Factory Workers Union" delegations met the Labour Commissioner with various demands.
One of the demands raised by the union was to increase at least 20% wage of the Brick Workers. The members said that in 2017 last wage was hiked when the Left Govt was in power amid COVID crisis period and now also when commodity prices are going higher.
Moreover, the workers bank pass books are often kept by the owners, which is very unjustified and also illegal. As a result they are deprived of proper wages.
Tripura Brick Factory Workers Union also demanded that workers' wages and works should be counted under the observation of the Labour Commissioner and their residential areas should also be developed.
