AGARTALA, Jan 20 (TIWN): Preparations for Republic Day on peak in Tripura.

On Tuesday, rehearsals were held at Agartala Assam Rifles ground on parades which are obvious parts of Republic day.

However, yesterday, ICAT Dept urged the people to stay at home and to stay safe amid COVID-19 pandemic. TV channels will show live telecasts of the programmes.

 Republic Day is a national holiday in India. It honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act as the governing document of India and thus, turning the nation into a newly formed republic.
