AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): In another landmark decision taken by Tripura High Court in the bench of Chief Justice Akil Kureshi and Justice Subashish Talapatra, has ordered State Govt to immediately compensate Advocate Late Bhaskar Debroy's family who died pathetically in huge medical negligence and also police role was under scanner behind the death. Senior Advocate Purushottom Roy Barman while briefing media at the High Court said, "As you know that on 7th March, 2020 a tragic death of a young lawyer Bhaskar Debroy was reported after he was found lying on road with severe injuries on body and Fire Brigade took him to GB hospital. He was admitted in the Trauma Centre but had died in medical negligence after screaming the whole night in extreme pains as his bones were broken".
"Our Advocate Pulak Saha had filed a case in High Court where we stated clearly that Bhaskar Debroy died in medical negligence and Doctors on duty were responsible for that. Police's role has been very much unsatisfactory. Then Govt constituted a death audit team where our statement had been proven as fact. Bhaskar died without any medical treatment", said Purushottom Roy Barman.
"Hospital said that there was no upper injury on his body but postmortem report showed that there were 17 upper injuries and no Doctor touched him. We demanded compensation for Bhaskar Debroy and High Court today asked the Govt to compensate the family with Rs. 10 lakhs", he said.
