Agartala, Dec 4 (TIWN): The SDJM court of Bishalghar today sent Bimal Chakraborty, the prime accused of multi-crore MGNREGA scam at Bishalghar RD block to 12 days judicial custody till December 16 and another accused person (AP) Kishore Banik (Technical Assistant) was sent to 5 days police remand today.

Acting on tip-off, police netted Kishore Banik from Gokulnagar area on Wednesday. The SDJM court sent Subir Ukil (Work Assistant) to 12-days judicial custody on yesterday, said police.

Four accused persons of MGNREGA scam- Nibash Pal (Jr. Mechanical Engineer), Partha Majumder (Jr. Mechanical Engineer), Goutam Pal (Junior Technician) and Tushar Kanti Sen (Panchayat Secretary) would be produced before the SDJM court at Bishalghar on Friday, said police.

Of the total FIR named accused persons including a woman, Debaprasad Nandi, Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS), Mita Malakar (Junior Engineer) and Chayan Nandi (Technical Assistant) are still at large. Altogether 9 persons were arrested or surrendered before the so far in connection with massive MGNREGA scam of Bishalghar RD Block.

An official statement issued from the SDPO, Bishalghar recently served a deadline of 15 days for surrender to the ‘absconding’ persons failing which the concerned authority would seize all properties registered under their name.

Recently the High Court of Tripura directed the Investigation Officer (IO) of Bishalghar scam case to appear before the Court with the complete investigation reports on January 12, next.
