AGARTALA, Nov 29 (TIWN): Within two days of Hindu Outfit's demand over Udaipur's 'love jihaad' case, Gomati police on Saturday mid-night arrested the accused Ershad Khan. He was arrested from Sonamura Hospital Chowmuhni.
Reportedly, A case was registered on October 27 against the youth under Section 366 (A), 376, and 4 of the POCSO Act. Within a few days after her abduction during the Durga puja festivities, the minor girl was recovered from Durlabhnarayan area in the district, but the accused was still absconding.
Later on Friday The Hindu Jagaran Mancha demanded an efficient legislation to curb alleged ‘love jihad’ throughout the nation and almost 3000 members of the outfit blocked the National Highway (NH8) at Subhash bridge in Udaipur of Gomati district in help of their demand.
However, to control the situation Gomati SP Lucky Chauhan has given in written that police will arrest the accused within 24 hours. On Saturday mid-night police arrested the accused from Sonamura. SDPO Udaipur Dhruba Nath said that he will be produced before court and police will seek remand from the Court to proceed the further investigation.
