AGARTALA, Nov 19 (TIWN): Major General GAV Reddy, SC VSM handed over the reins of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) to Major General Ranjit Singh, VSM on 18 November 2020, who would be the Sixth incumbent in Srikona Garrison, Silchar. Assam Rifles (East) looks after Tripura, Mizoram, South Assam and West Manipur and is involved in multi ferrous roles like counter insurgency operations in West Manipur, effective border management in Mizoram and civic action projects in the entire region to win over the hearts and minds of people.

Assam Rifles are the 'Force to Reckon With' and are a professional, credible and people friendly force, which contributes immensely towards ensuring security and improving the lives of people in these States.
