AGARTALA, Nov 18 (TIWN): Since 9 months, under Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb Dialysis patients are deprived of free medicines although there is no allegation of lack of Central Funds. Sources informed, not only Dialysis under CM Biplab Deb's Health Ministry and the current authority of GB hospital, MP Pratima Bhowmik, but Central funds in various schemes are being looted massively resulting patients are deprived of Free Medical Services. From long 8 to 9 months, this facility has been stopped although it is rule to provide free medicines under PM schemes. Poor people are bound to come only once in a month to the hospital and many are unable to attend treatment also, due to increased charges of dialysis. Now dialysis medicines in local shops are highly costly, turning impossible for the poor people to buy those. 'Right to Life' is totally violated ! Patients has requested Govt to save their lives by restoring the services.
Source also informed that there is a nexus between the Health Dept led by Biplab Deb with the medicine shop network and huge commissions are earned to feed the party or personal benefits. This is one way Biplab Deb is "murdering" the patients by snatching Free Medicine Services. Earlier, he slashed free medical services from Govt hospitals and putting charge in various things including oxygen Rs. 50 per hour. Dialysis patients have requested the Govt to relaunch the previous scheme.
