AGARTALA, Nov 12 (TIWN): Ahead of Diwali celebration, marketing on Dhanteras has remained on peak. People rushed to Jewellery shops to purchase golds on the occasion of Diwali Dhanteras.
While speaking to TIWN, a jewellery shop owner in Agartala, said that people are buying gold jewellery because it is believed to bring prosperity.
"Dhanteras, the name itself carries 'Dhan' (money) and 'teras' means it is an auspicious day when people can buy jewellery. Basically, it is from northern India, but nowadays from all over India people are buying jewellery on the Dhanteras auspicious occasion," said the businessman.
Customers were complaining about the increase in the price of gold and say that it is difficult for them to purchase jewellery without saving up in advance.
