AGARTALA, Oct 31 (TIWN): Sugar scam has been reported in the Northeast state Tripura, under Food Dept.
It has been reported that the tender received outside based company has been caught violating the tender rules twice but the Food Dept is playing silent role in the issue. The company allegedly had supplied expired sugar with 2020 labeling.
Consumer groups have demanded to take proper action against the company. In September month violating guidelines, the company had supplied expired sugar at 1,000 metric ton quantity, which was later cancelled and returned by the Dept but the tender has not been cancelled yet. After few weeks the same illegal supplies were given again in new packets written 2020 as per state's leading media reports. Why the Govt is not taking any action against the company, it has triggered questions.
