AGARTALA, Oct 29 (TIWN): On a shocking note, one housewife was allegedly killed by her husband and in-laws for dowry. The incident took place in Champamura's Sukanta palli area.

Reportedly, the victim identified as Smriti Das got married to Samar Das, a resident of Champamura. After few days of their marriage the husband and the in-laws started torturing her physically and mentally for dowry. The victim's family members alleged that she has been tortured regularly in her in-law's house till the date she was killed. On Thursday the family members and her husband killed her and hanged her from rope to make it look like a suicide, alleged victim's family members.

However, police came to the spot and recovered the body. Police started investigating and sent the body to hospital for autopsy. Her mother sought justice and strict action against the accused persons behind her daughter's death.
